OIL REFINERY CHEMICALS

ECC provides a range of high quality chemicals for use in oil refinery processes.

An oil or petroleum refinery is an industrial process plant, where crude oil is processed and refined into more useful petroleum products, such as naphtha, gasoline, diesel fuel, asphalt base, heating oil, kerosene and liquified petroleum gas.

The most commonly used oil refinery chemicals are corrosion inhibitors for preventing corrosion in refinery pipework and assemblies, and demulsifiers for helping to separate and remove water from oil.

DEMULSIFIERS

Demulsifiers, or emulsion breakers, are chemicals which separate water from oil.

ECC demulsifiers are important in the petroleum refining process, where water has to be removed before refining can take place.

ECC can recommend the best demulsifier for your system and offers a range of chemicals, which can be used for batch or continuous treatments.

  • ECC RD 100ECC RD-100 Oil Demulsifier is a blend of surfactants in an aromatic solvent, which act by reducing the interfacial tension of the emulsion to faccilitate separation of solids-stabilized emulsions. ECC RD-100 exhibits excellent broad spectrum application in field production, slop tank bottoms and refinery desalters. The emulsion breaker is designed to yield a fast water drop, solids wetting, interface cleanup, as well as break the emulsion. ECC RD-100 will perform effectively in breaking most emulsifions. But if not, it is recommended that your local Technical Representative be contacted for selection of the optimum demulsifier. A product canbe selected from our extensive line of demulsifiers or a custom tailored demulsifier can bee designed for your specific system. Application Method ECC RD-100 Demulsifier is typically applied continuously with a chemical injection pump to the incoming crude oil.

CORROSION INHIBITORS

ECC corrosion inhibitors are specially formulated chemicals for controlling corrosion in oil refinery systems.

Corrosion is caused by the presence of carbon dioxide (sweet corrosion), hydrogen sulphide (sour corrosion), oxygen and bacteria.

ECC corrosion inhibitors decrease the rate at which materials in the refinery system corrode, prolonging the lifespan of oil refinery equipment.

All ECC corrosion inhibitors are carefully tested before use, so you can be sure you are getting the right inhibitor for your system.

  • ECC RO-5ECC RO-5 Corrosion Inhibitor is a high molecular weight filming amine-type inhibitor used to control corrosion in refinery process equipment. It is specially formulated to provide corrosion protection at low pH and remain chemically stable at high temperatures. ECC RO-5 will not emulsify with water and is propane soluble. This product is recommended for use in controlling corrosion in overhead systems that are predominantly hydrocarbon. Application Method ECC RO-5 Corrosion Inhibitor should be fed into a hydrocarbon slipstream and injected into the horizontal section of the overhead vapor line, at a dosage of 6 to 12 ppm.
  • ECC RO-6ECC RO-6 Corrosion Inhibitor is a benzyl alkyl pyridnyl quaternary ammonium chloride type inhibitor used to control corrosion in refinery process equipment. It is specially formulated to provide corrosion protection at low pH and remain chemically stable at high temperatures. ECC RO-6 will not emulsify with water. This product is recommended for use in controlling corrosion in overhead systems that are predominantly hydrocarbon. Application Method ECC RO-6 Corrosion Inhibitor should be fed into a hydrocarbon slipstream and injected into the horizontal section of the overhead vapor line, at a dosage of 6 to 12 ppm.
